Fearless Heart

Crazy events in the world.  The contagion of fear is spreading uninhibited.  Fear that standing in a grocery store parking lot might be your last breath.  Fear for our security as we watch the world unravel and economy be set up for all that is to come.  Fear of what people think.  Fear of our own failure.  Fear of being defenseless, alone, without...  Fear.  Fear suffocates and imprisons us.  Fear is the the measure of our faith and trust.  The reality of our beliefs.  The true test of our values.  Fear leads to all unhealthy and can make us bitter, angry, sick in body and mind, defensive and walled in.

God give me a fearless heart!  The one that I had as a child where I would run, leap, love, ride horses, and absolutely live with abandon.  Let my children say of me someday that I had a fearless heart and was a courageous woman.  Help me to guard my heart from the grip of fear.  May that little measure of faith that only You can give take root and grow to produce fruit in my life! 

Let me never hesitate.  Like those people in Arizona who ran to the fight without regard for self.  Let me have the heart of a tender warrior who fights with compassion, reason, self control and with absolute belief.  Let me have the heart of a line backer who lines himself up across from the biggest enemy.  Let me have the heart of those ladies in restricted countries who praise God for suffering and sacrifice when they are imprisoned and tortured and killed for their beliefs.

Picking up Rocks and Riding in Boats

I took a walk with a three year old young man today.   His mama was frazzled and he was bored.  "Grab your shoes," I told him.  He ran to his Mom to get his shoes on and ran to the door.  After fixing the shoestrings and the coat was on the way he wanted and I showed him the edge of the sidewalk and where we would walk...we were off. A dried piece of weed draped across an edge of the sidewalk, and I bent down to check it out.  He followed my lead and bent in half beside me.  I broke a piece off and gave him half and continued on our way.  Have you ever took a walk with a toddler?  And looked at things the way they do?  The broken sticks in the gutter, the ice and the small patch of snowing clinging to life are all gold to these little explorers.   A little encouragement is all they need to sift for treasure along the way. Hurry.  Time is running out . 6.5 hours left of 12/10/2012. 4 days le ft until the weekend. 15 days left until Christmas.   21 day s until we fall over the fiscal cliff & financial Armageddon.   Time is running out.
