A Light in Dark Places...


"The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadodw of death a light has dawned."  Isaiah 9:2

We lost a beautiful little nine year old girl in our community this week and we are all grieving whether we knew her or not.  I was blessed to have known her.  As I stood with the family waiting for the helicopter to come and life flight her...I knew the Peace that only God can give when things feel so dark.

Yesterday, my husband drove to be with his Dad while his Mom is in emergency surgery.  She has some very complicated health issues that just seem to be compounding.  Now we just wait and pray.  

She is one of the strongest and most amazing women in my life.  She is such a rock.  My heart breaks for her and for my father-in-law, my husband, sister and brother and for my boys who adore their Grandma.

Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress!  A light has dawned!  No matter how dark and anxious and worried I get...I know an Awesome God and I am clinging to Him. 

 He is the light in a very dark place!  The light that helps me see clearly.  The light that envelopes me with warmth and rest.

Picking up Rocks and Riding in Boats

I took a walk with a three year old young man today.   His mama was frazzled and he was bored.  "Grab your shoes," I told him.  He ran to his Mom to get his shoes on and ran to the door.  After fixing the shoestrings and the coat was on the way he wanted and I showed him the edge of the sidewalk and where we would walk...we were off. A dried piece of weed draped across an edge of the sidewalk, and I bent down to check it out.  He followed my lead and bent in half beside me.  I broke a piece off and gave him half and continued on our way.  Have you ever took a walk with a toddler?  And looked at things the way they do?  The broken sticks in the gutter, the ice and the small patch of snowing clinging to life are all gold to these little explorers.   A little encouragement is all they need to sift for treasure along the way. Hurry. Time is Running Out...

Hurry.  Time is running out . 6.5 hours left of 12/10/2012. 4 days le ft until the weekend. 15 days left until Christmas.   21 day s until we fall over the fiscal cliff & financial Armageddon.   Time is running out.
