My Night of Walking & Driving in Circles

I have to tell you my parking lot in Denver story.  I finally follow the herd of people through all of the mazes in Denver to pick up my getting heavier all of the time bag and finally found the right shuttle to go to the cheap parking lot when I climbed exhausted out of the shuttle.  I looked around heading right for my vehicle and...ta da...it had disappeared.

I'm very driven by landmarks and I knew which side I had parked and how close it was to the fence and someone moved my car!

It was late.  I was tired.  The kind of tired where you would just love to sit down and cry.  I'm dragging my bags up and down the rows where I just knew my car was.  But it wasn't.

Do you know how giant the cheap parking lot is????? I walked up one row of f and then g and finally I saw q and then back again.

No one around at all until I saw flashing lights on a small truck and I about ran the poor guy down.  Holding back (I thought) the panic and asked him, "So what can one do if she can't find where she parked?"  I did smile as nicely as I could.  He pointed to the shuttle pick up and said to push the emergency button.

So off I go... AGAIN.

I pushed the button and was transferred to the car location division.  (It is pretty amazing how they keep all the logistics.)  She asked when I parked and what my license plate number was.  Gulp.  I don't know my new license plate number.  But it was from SD and that was rare-good sign.

She gave me 3 possible locations and I wrote them on my hand and headed to the 1st possibility.  Then I noticed that these numbers were opposite of where I was looking and began to regain my bearings.

I had my North and South messed around.

Dragging my bags and pushing the horn button on my keys like crazy...I finally heard a welcoming honk and found my car.  Shoving my bags in the back and climbing in was heavenly!

After driving to the gate to pay my bill, I asked how to get out of here.  "Go left, left and then right."

Really?  That sounds simple.  I took a few too many lefts and maybe an extra right or two.

Good thing I have north lit up in my rear view mirror and nothing is going to stop me from heading that direction.  After a few U turns and driving like a race car driver-I made to the outskirts of Denver heading North.

No more walking and driving in circles for me!!!  I was heading in one direction and nothing would get me off course... except maybe a Diet Pepsi.

Starting a Journey

September 3, 2010 Originally posted How to Begin a Journey 1. Pick a destination or simply start. 2. Plan a detailed itinerary or just take the first step. 3. Pack everything or travel lightly. I am choosing to just begin. To leave behind the baggage, pick up a day pack, and go. Several nights before we moved to Ogallala, I was praying about the transition when I heard that still, small voice of God. In that moment, I knew He heard my Heart's Cry. He hears every whispered plea, every unspoken longing. If I truly sit with that truth, it humbles me. What courage, boldness, passion, and decisiveness I have when I remember: He never leaves or forsakes me. He provides for my every need according to His riches in glory. My hope is to encourage you He hears your Heart's Cry too.

Picking up Rocks and Riding in Boats

I took a walk with a three year old young man today.   His mama was frazzled and he was bored.  "Grab your shoes," I told him.  He ran to his Mom to get his shoes on and ran to the door.  After fixing the shoestrings and the coat was on the way he wanted and I showed him the edge of the sidewalk and where we would walk...we were off. A dried piece of weed draped across an edge of the sidewalk, and I bent down to check it out.  He followed my lead and bent in half beside me.  I broke a piece off and gave him half and continued on our way.  Have you ever took a walk with a toddler?  And looked at things the way they do?  The broken sticks in the gutter, the ice and the small patch of snowing clinging to life are all gold to these little explorers.   A little encouragement is all they need to sift for treasure along the way. A smooth stone sat contentedly on the driveway of a house.  I stopped to admire...
